Ingredients

Chemeen AdaFor the batter

1. Rice powder – 2 cups
2. Boiled water – 2.5 to 3 cups
3. Salt as required

For filling

1. Prawns – 500 gms – washed and cleaned well
2. Ginger – small piece
3. Green chilly – 2
4. Garlic – 2
5. Chilly powder – 1 tsp
6. Coriander powder – 1 tsp
7. Turmeric powder – 1 pinch
8. Pepper powder – 1 pinch
9. Garam masala – 1 tsp
10. Curry leaves – 5 – 6 leaves
11. Coriander leaves – 1 Tbs – finely chopped
12. Onion – 2 finely chopped

Preparation:

  • Make a nice dough with the rice powder and boiled water, add salt as required.
  • Heat the pan and pour 1 Tbs oil and saute onion, ginger, garlic and chillis.
  • Add the herbs and salt. When the paste turn brown add prawns and cook well. Make sure the masala is dry.
  • Make small patties with the dough and fill it with prawns mixture and steam the patties for 15 – 20 minutes.
