Chemeen Vada

Ingredients

  1. 1. Prawns – 1kg
  2. 2. Dal – 1/4cup
  3. 3. Ginger 1 long piece
  4. 4. Shallots – 2 -3 Nos
  5. 5. Fennel seeds – 1 tablespoon
  6. 6. Green chilly – 2 -3 nos
  7. 7. Turmeric powder – ½ tablespoon
  8. 8. Chilly powder – 1 tablespoon
  9. 9. Curry leaves to add flavour
  10. 10. Salt- As required

Preparation:

        • Soak the Dal for few hours and drain .
        • Clean and devein the prawns
        • Take a mortar & pestle and pound the ginger, shallots, fennel seeds, dal, curry leaves and then the Prawn.
        • Mix Salt, Chilli powder Turmeric powder to this pounded prawn mixture
        • Make lemon size balls, flatten it to form a disc shape.
        • Heat oil in a deep pan, when the oil become hot, put the vada into the oil. Fry until golden brown
