Coconut Urad Dal Chutney

IngredientsCoconut and urad dal chamandi

  1. Fresh coconut  grated :- 1 cup
  2. Urad Dal – 2 table spoon
  3. Red chilli-  2 Nos (increase or decrease according to your spice).
  4. Shallots : 3 Nos
  5. Curry leaves :- 5-6 leaves
  6. Salt:- to taste
  7. Oil – 2 tsp


  • Heat a pan, add 2 tsp oil, roast the urad dal till golden brown colour.
  • After the urad dal turns golden brown colour add red chilli, curry leaves and shallots and roast for few more minutes till the red chilli get roasted.
  • Lastly add coconut and roast it for few minutes. It is just to heat up the coconut.
  • On cooling grind this mixture, add salt according to taste and serve it with dosa, idli, appam or even rice.
