Potato Stew

  1.  Potato (Medium)- 4 Nos (quartered )
  2. Onion(large) – 1 no (sliced)
  3. Green chillies – 3-4 nos (Sliced)
  4. Ginger(chopped) – 1 tsp
  5. Cinnamon(Karugapatta) – 2 sticks
  6. Cloves(Grambu) – 2 nos
  7. Cardamom(Elakka) – 2 nos
  8. Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
  9. Coconut milk – Thick 1 cup (1st Milk) and thin (2nd Milk) -2-3 cups
  10. Salt – As required.
  11. Coconut Oil – 3 tbsp
  12. Curry leaves-2 sprig


  •  Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
  • Add spices (Cinnamon, cloves & Cardamom) and saute.
  • Add onion and fry, till it becomes soft.
  • Add chopped ginger, and green chilies and saute for few secs.
  • Add the 2cups of 2nd milk when it boils add potato pieces and salt to taste
  • When the potato is cooked just mash with the spatula. The gravy should become thick, add the 1st Do not boil after it.
  • Add freshly pounded pepper powder, curry leaves and drizzle some raw coconut oil over it. (optional)
