  1. 2 cups  Chena – Cleaned cut into finger length like potato and dry on kitchen paper
  2. 1 Big egg beaten
  3. 1 ½ cup Plain flour or corn flour
  4. ½ tsp salt
  5. 1 ½ cup cereals
  6. 4 sprigs curry leaves
  7. 3 red or green chillie chopped
  8. Oil for Frying


Beat eggs and pour it in the chena pieces.  Add salt and flour and mix thoroughly so that the chena fingers are well quoted with the flour. Do not add water.

Heat a frying pan and pour oil enough to fry the chena pieces. Fry until the pieces are crispy. Remove from oil and leave it on a kitchen paper.

Heat 2 or 3 tabsp of oil add in the cut chillie and curry leaves fry till you get a nice aroma.  Stir in the cereals so that it is well mixed with the chillie curry leaves.  Add in the fried crispy chena pieces and stir Fry for 5 mins so that the cereal is well coated on the chena pieces.

Remove from the chatti and serve it in a flat platter hot. You have a plate of super delicious crispy fried chena coated with spicy cereals.
