Phool Makhana Curry-Lotus seed (fox nut)

  1. Louts seed ( Phool makhana)- 1 cup
  2. Onion- 2 nos chopped
  3. Green chili- 2 Nos
  4. Tomato- 2 Nos chopped
  5. Ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
  6. Red Chili powder- 1/2 tsp
  7. Turmeric-1/4 tsp
  8. Tomato ketchup-1 tsp (optional)
  9. Garam masala-1/2 tsp
  10. Coriander leaves chopped-2 table spoon
  11. Oil – 5 Table spoon.

Preparation:

  1. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the lotus seeds till it is crispy and drain it on to a kitchen towel.
  2. Add onions and green to the same oil and saute it till it is golden colour.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste and saute it till the raw smell is cleared
  4. Add tomatoes and mix well till it is soft and oil start leaving the edges of pan.
  5. Add red chili powder, turmeric and saute it further for few seconds.
  6. Add ketchup and the fried Lotus seeds mix well.
  7. Add ½ cup of water and salt to taste. Let it boil for 5 minutes and gravy thicken.
  8. Add little garam masala and coriander leaves. Remove from stove and serve it with hot rice or chapatti.
