Camel Roast (in Kerala Style)

IMG-20170930-WA0002Though camel meat can be cooked in almost any method in which you would cook lamb, (and it is a similar taste), the very best method is roasting.

Camel meat is a good source of vitamins, especially vitamin B complex and important minerals such as iron, calcium and phosphorus. Camel meat is also characterized by low level of cholesterol as compared to other farm animals like beef, making it a healthy food for humans.


  • Camel ½ kg
  • Curry Powder 2 spoons
  • Olive Oil 2 spoons
  • Onion chopped 2 Onions
  • Ginger chopped 1 small piece
  • Garlic Chopped 4 cloves
  • Coconut pieces ½ coconut cut into small pieces
  • Curry leaves as required
  • Coriander Leaves as required
  • Tomatoes 2 Nos.
  • Green chillies 4 Nos.
  • Salt As required


  1. Pressure cook the marinated (marinate with curry powder and salt) camel meet (cut to small pieces) till two whistles.
  2. Take a pan, add oil and roast chopped onions, green chillies, ginger and garlic
  3. Add tomatoes
  4. Add coconut pieces
  5. Then add the cooked meat and dry roast it
  6. Sprinkle Coriander leaves and curry leaves
